Also, I've said before (and probably numerous times) that mercury is my favorite element, but it also inspired this (honest-to-God real) conversation snippet: "I always thought bathing in mercury would be interesting." "Hey, it'd be sure to kill everything." "Including you." "But you would be disinfected."
